OPPORTUNITIES

A Woman's Day...

A woman's Day at Bethlehem Center will be held on
Saturday, June 7th at 10am. The Spartanburg District UMW is sponsoring this event to help our very needy sisters in the Bethlehem Center area. They will be our guest for dinner
held at the Bethlehem Center. St. James women are asked to help provide food, paper products, and manpower to help set up,
to work the event, and clean up. Any woman from St. James that is available to help, please contact Nancy Becker.

School of Christian Living

The School of Christian Living will be held at Spartanburg Methodist College July 24-27, 2008. The theme is : "Living the Sacred", The studies will be: "I Believe in Jesus: Israel/Palestine"; "Giving Our Hearts Away: Native American Survival". This is a wonderful event. If you have never attended, you don't know what you're missing! Registration forms are on the bulletin board by the church office and on the bulletin board by the Parents Morning Out room at the end of the Educational Wind. See Carole Doll or Nancy Becker for further information.

TANZANIA!! African Missions!!

The 2008 FDM Tanzanian Trip Team are having two fundraisers for the month of April. The proceeds will be used to help fund some of our expenses and also the projects that we will be doing while there. We will be working on a water harvesting project that will collect the rain water from the roof of our new pre-school building, and also we will be building school desks for the pre-school. The water harvesting project will cost around $500, and the school desks around $35-$40 each. We will be building 30 desks, which seats 3 children per desk. Anybody willing to donate to the water harvesting project or fund a desk, please let us know. You can contact Diane Harvey, Russ Beach or Bryan Lewis. (check newsletter for contact numbers)

Our fund-raisers are:

1)Mutt's Bar-B-Q in Mauldin-Thursday, April 10th, from 5-8:30pm. We will be working there and will receive 10% of the earnings that night, plus all tips. Please come out and support us in our efforts. Bring your friends and neighbors.

2)We are having a golf tournament at Bonnie Brae Golf Course in Greenville on Saturday, April 19th. We are hoping for 25 foursome teams. The costs is $60 per person, and lunch is included. If you don't play golf, or aren't able to play that day, perhaps you would be willing to sponsor a hole for $50, or donate some gifts for the tournament. Any effort that you could lend us would be appreciated. You can contact Larry Harvey or Tex Campbell for more information about the Golf Tournament. (check newsletter for contact numbers)

We'd also like to ask for your continued prayers for our trip in September, as we seek to do God's will for the people in Tanzania.

In His Love,
        Diane, Russ, and Bryan

SPIHN
SPartanburg Interfaith Hospitality Network
 at St. James

Call to Service:

During our last SPIHN rotation, I was emotionally torn between being in Charlotte with my parents (father has heart problems) and being at St. James with our SPIHN families and volunteers. Thank you Dottie Scott for "covering" for me on Monday and Tuesday nights. Last July, Annette Cannon supervised the end of the SPIHN week when I was out-of-town.

This highlights a continuing problem at St. James---we need a co-coordinator for SPIHN. Someone needs to know what I do and be able to take over when I am not available. I have great passion for this program and I have no intention of moving e.g., Indiana) or quitting, but I do need help. I am extremely grateful for the many wonderful volunteers at St. James. Doing the Lord's work with them is a great blessing for me. I am praying the Holy Spirit will lead someone to serve in this way. If you want more information or details, please call me. ---Sarah Rook

Bethlehem Center News

Please join us for a special evening to benefit the Bethlehem Center on Saturday, June 7. We are very privileged to have Lucinda herself, join us as speaker that evening. Most, if not all of us, have or have purchased her wonderful pins. Her very special story can be found at Lucinda.com. Come, have dinner, hear Lucinda and she will sign any pins purchased that night. She has now come out with one of a kind necklace/earring sets which will also be available that evening. Tickets are $35 each and sponsorships are available for Bronze level $300, Silver $500, Gold $750 and Platinum $1000 and include 8 tickets to the event. St. James should be able to fill at least one table. Bring your husband/take your wife. What a wonderful Mother's Day present. See Sharon Tootell for tickets and/or details.

Don't forget about the Bethlehem Center Thrift Store at 300 Union Street, Suite G (across from Ricky's). You can bring donations or you can shop...or better yet, do both!

Email Addresses
Please send us your email address!  This is especially important if you
serve on a committee or organization such as choir, etc.  It would be
a cost efficient move to be able to email notices for committee meetings opposed to using the US Postal Service.

any of these opportunities,
