OUTREACH

MISSIONS AT HOME
Missions at Home is a program designed to provide services to members of our congregation that are in need. This ministry is service based; it does not provide financial or material needs. In most cases materials required for the service are the responsibility of the person requesting the service. Examples of the type of service available include but are not necessarily limited to one of the following.

Transportation

Painting

Yard work

Light hauling

Moving furniture

Minor household repairs

People we seek to assist include:

Seniors

Single women

Persons recovering or suffering from illness or injury

Persons for whom the service or task is unmanageable

If you have a task or some other need that we can help you with or if you know of someone who could use our help please call the Church Office at 576-6481.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE INCLUDED ON OUR LIST OF VOLUNTEERS CALL THE OFFICE.

The Sunshine Club

...with the help of volunteers, put together Spring Goodie Bags. They will contain tissues, chocolate candy, hard candy, oatmeal cookies, peanut butter crackers and a whimsical foam "flower" that they can keep. It will remind them that their friends at St. James are thinking of them. You can see an updated list of our shut-ins on the Fellowship bulletin board. If you would like to serve with this project call Elouise Faulkner.

Mobile Meals
For many years St. James has sponsored a Mobile Meals route. Times and circumstances have changed and Mobile Meals is in need of drivers for the St. James route and other routes as well. Would you consider giving a few hours of your time each week to those who would not have other means to receive a meal--especially a warm meal? Please call Mobile Meals for Spartanburg County at 573-7684.

COWPENS SALKEHATCHIE
JUNE 7-14, 2008

Salkehatchie Summer Service is a pioneering servant ministry at selected sites in South Carolina involving high school and college age youth, adult community leaders and persons of different cultures in upgrading housing, motivating community cooperative efforts by helping persons to help themselves, and providing all participants with opportunities for personal growth and service.

St. James has been asked to prepare a meal for lunch on Monday, June 9, 2008. We will serve 75-100 people between 12:00-1:00 pm at Cannon Campground UMC. We will have a salad bar, dessert, and drinks. If you are able to help serve, purchase the food or both, please call Eleanor Cox or sign up on the Mission Board.

Woodruff Soup Kitchen

The Woodruff Soup Kitchen is up and running. They will be moving into a larger place as soon as the kitchen is finished. This is where you are needed. They are in need of supplies for the kitchen, and we will be having a Kitchen Shower for them soon, Check-out the Opportunity Tree for details or call Nancy & Lee Becker.

Thank You!
The Soup Kitchen thanks St. James for the continued support with clothing and grocery bag donations. Please continue to keep them in mind as you do your spring cleaning. They welcome good used clothes and gently worn shoes (children through adult in all sizes).
